Castellas takes its name from a place that evokes ancient, fortified heights and the assertive character of the village of Vacqueyras. Crafted from old vines grown on low-yielding terraced plots, this cuvée is aged for 12 months in oak barrels and reveals stewed fruit, smoky notes and a hint of vanilla. A deep, silky and complex wine with fine aging potential.

Tasting
Floral nose with subtle notes of violet at first, then light notes of strawberries. Fleshy and rich mouth, still well-balanced. Elegant and silky tannins.

Here are three occasions to enjoy this wine, and plenty more for you to create: a relaxed dinner with friends, served with generous, flavourful dishes; sunday roast or family gathering, where the wine can be enjoyed throughout the meal; an autumn or winter evening by the fire with a simple selection of mature cheeses and charcuterie; a festive aperitif-dinner, served slightly cool with savoury bites, roasted vegetables, and spiced nuts.
The vintage
2024 has been full of weather challenges. Spring brought disease pressure, summer droughts reduced yields, and heavy rains in September added to the difficulties. Even so, the great quality of the wines reflects the skill, dedication, and great adaptability of our Artisans winegrowers and winemakers.
Terroir
The vines are located on the "Plateau des Garrigues" between Vacqueyras & Sarrians. On alluvial deposits and clay-limestone soils.
Winemaking
Hand harvest. Grapes are vinified separately to preserve the characteristics of each variety. Syrah grapes are aged in "Foudres" and 225l-oak barrels (1-3 years) for 12 months before final blending.
