Let's go back in time...
2007 : a few Cooperative Wineries - including Cave de Vacqueyras - decide to create the label "Winegrowers in Sustainable Development"
Their aim?
Launching a CSR and Sustainable Development initiative dedicated to the world of wine. It is based on 37 commitments and incorporates economic, environmental and societal dimensions.
In 2010, the label changed its name to ‘Vignerons Engagés’ (Committed Winegrowers), which is shorter, simpler and more impactful.
Rhonéa is a ‘committed’ vineyard covering 1,300 hectares in the Rhône Valley
Since 2020, despite the Covid crisis which has slowed down many activities, teams and winegrowers have worked hard to meet the label's requirements. Because as a cooperative, the label covers not only the activities of the winery, production, shipping, quality, sales, marketing and administration, but also includes upstream activities.
More than 80% of our artisan winegrowers' operations must comply with the label.
After three intense days of assessment by an Afnor expert in April, Caves Rhonéa confirmed that it had obtained the ‘Committed Winegrowers’ label. This is a source of great pride for our 140 artisan winegrower families and our 100 employees, as this label is becoming increasingly important to consumers.
It is now the second best-known label, behind the organic label (source: Sowine 2023 study - assisted awareness survey).
