NO/LOW : Rhonéa invests in the NOLO category
It's a fact that the trend of NO/LO (non-alcoholic or low-alcohol) beverages is gaining momentum, especially among the 20-40 age group. Initially a faint signal from across the Atlantic, the demand for "lighter" wines has gradually spread to Europe, and now French professional buyers are showing interest. As "Committed Winemakers," we advocate for responsible consumption and must be able to offer our customers wines with lower alcohol content, or even alcohol-free options.
A red Côtes du Rhône displaying 11.5%
In 2023, we launched the first red Côtes du Rhône with only 11.5% alcohol. But before taking the plunge, we conducted numerous tastings of low-alcohol or alcohol-free wines and also studied various production methods. Honestly, the red wines often disappointed us; they lacked color and structure. "We chose to invest in cold distillation equipment because it preserves the wine the best," explains Thierry Sansot, Director of Vineyard & Wine. "De-alcoholization is a real technical challenge. We are very pleased with this Côtes du Rhône with its dense color, beautiful structure, and well-defined fruit aromas. Blindfolded, it's very difficult to tell that it has been de-alcoholized by 2 degrees. It has a very fruity profile, almost like a primeur, very enjoyable."
Launched in June 2023, our Côtes du Rhône was enthusiastically received, showing appreciable results. And this is just the beginning! We are currently exploring new opportunities in the French, Danish, and Swiss markets, where the demand for lighter and innovative wines is booming. In the cellar, experiments continue! In a few weeks, we will offer a red Vin de France at 6%, and in early 2025, a complete range of red, rosé, and white wines at 0% alcohol should be available.
Non-alcoholic Fine Bubbles
Another wine from our production tailored to non-alcoholic wine enthusiasts: our Alcohol-Free Muscatine. It's been one of the best-sellers at our Beaumes de Venise boutique in white or rosé at 8% for many years. Now, here comes the 0% version, delicately sparkling and refreshing, capturing all the intensity of Muscat Petits Grains aromas without the alcohol. A perfect option for those seeking a flavorful alternative!
